My why…
I taught myself how to make scented goodies due to having limited money to buy them, I’ve always loved luxury home fragrances and cosmetics however back in 2012 I found myself as a single parent and quickly these items become a thing of the past.
I am a qualified nurse supporting people with their emotional health needs however I started to see that my own mental health was declining.
As a full time mommy and nurse I was exhausted and started to loose myself a little. I was giving to everyone but needed to find something for me, a hobby and outlet. I’ve always loved crafts and arts so in 2015 my first born and I started making some wax melts and bath bombs so we could spoil ourselves a little.
Soon friends and family were sampling them and loving them, and after this I was encouraged to start selling them. I was very reluctant, scared even, didn’t believe anyone would really love my products.
This was a huge step for me. I had no idea about running a business ( still not my strongest quality) however I had a passion to give back to everyone else and allow them to have luxury products at affordable prices.
It hasn’t happened instantly. It has taken time to develop my brand, lots of money, lots of practice making products and an unreal amount of time learning all the litigation and requirements to sell safe and sustainable products. Still to this day I have periods of imposter syndrome - there is lots of noise out the currently in the home fragrance world, everyone fighting to tell you there product is better, more sustainable, more eco friendly. When Infant the reality is we are all just trying to give you the best.
I thought it was a good time to give you a little insight into me and how The Cornish Scent Company started and I can’t wait to share more of my journey with you.
